I didn’t watch the Golden Globes, but it was impossible for me not to see all the accolades being showered on Oprah Winfrey for the speech she gave at the ceremony and the talk about her running for president. At first I was dismissive of the possibility of Oprah becoming our next president, but then I remembered I was also skeptical of Donald Trump, so I guess I shouldn’t be so quick to disregard the possibility. Regardless of whether or not she becomes president, however, I’m very concerned about what all desire for an Oprah candidacy says about where we are as a society. Have we learned nothing from the past year or two? Do we really believe that replacing one inexperienced celebrity president with another will solve our problems? Are we that lazy? Oprah is a smart woman with an inspiring rags-to-riches story, but she is not the savior that so many on the Left are looking for.
The Rock isn’t that savior either.
