When I left the sumo arena after they day’s tournament was over it was getting dark outside and I headed over to Asakusa to take a walk. The Tokyo Skytree was lighting up the night from across the river when I arrived in the neighborhood and while the tourist crowds were diminishing there were still a lot of people walking around. I passed through Kaminarimon Gate and started my walk towards Sensoji Temple. Most of the businesses by that time were either closed or in the process of closing down for the day. If you’re able to show up in Asakusa late at night you can get nice photos of the shopping street and Sensoji when it’s completely empty, but I was there too early for that. Although the doors of Sensoji Temple’s mail hall were shut it was still a lively scene at the temple grounds. I navigated my way through the crowds and got a few photos before leaving and heading towards the nearest subway station. My night wasn’t quite over yet.
