Around mid-afternoon I paid a visit to the Okinawa Prefectural Museum. There are actually two museums inside the building—a history museum and an art museum—and I bought a ticket for the history museum, which is the larger of the two. Inside the history museum is a wide range of artifacts from Okinawa’s ancient past all the way up to modern times and there was also a lot of information about the history and culture of the island. Photography unfortunately was not allowed when I visited in 2019, so I can only show you the building’s exterior, which in my mind looks like some sort of giant cement castle.
