Fukuoka 2019: Tochoji Temple (東長寺)

The rain started coming down hard again shortly after I left Shofukuji Temple and I ducked into nearby Tochoji Temple for a few minutes. This temple was originally built near the ocean in 806 but in the late 1500s it was moved to its current location after the temple burned down. The pagoda at Tochoji is actually very new, having been built in 2011. I only stuck around Tochoji to get out of the rain for a little bit but it turned out to be a worthwhile stop.
