Ise Shima 2019: Oharaimachi (おはらい町)

After leaving Outer Ise Shrine I caught a bus across town and got off near the Inner Shrine. Much like other major shrines and temples in Japan, on the road leading up to the Inner Ise Shrine is a shopping street that caters to the shrine’s visitors. This area is called Oharaimachi and some of the businesses here have been around for a few centuries. On my way to the Inner Shrine I just passed through Oharaimachi but on my way out I grabbed a snack from one of the shops.
