Matsumoto 2019: Yohashira Shrine (四柱神社)

Just a couple minutes south of Matsumoto Castle is the Yohashira Shrine. This charming little shrine is dedicated to four Shinto deities and its name translates to “four pillars.” It is uncommon for Shinto shrines to house this many deities and consequently Yohashira Shrine is considered to be a particularly good place to pray. Being so close to Matsumoto Castle, it’s easy to visit this shrine on your way to or from the castle grounds.
