Japan Nikko

Japan Nikko

One of the nice things about the hostel I was staying in during my visit to Nikko was that it was right by the river, so I got to wake up in the morning to the sights and sounds of a rushing mountain stream. On my final morning in Nikko the clouds were clearing out and the sun was finally shinning brightly.

Another benefit of the place I was staying at was that it was right across the river from the World Heritage sites and I could get there in just a few minutes on foot. After packing up my stuff I crossed the river and started up one of the paths to Nikko’s famed temples. The trail passed some smaller temple buildings before connecting to one of the roads in the main temple area. The broad path up to Toshogu Shrine was soon before me, and I made my up there to begin my final bits of sightseeing in Nikko.
