A narrow road off of one of the main streets in Motomachi leads up to Funatama Shrine. Snuggled between a school and some homes on the slope of Mt Hakodate, Funatama is a small Shinto shrine that said be the oldest in Hokkaido. Although there’s not too much to see at Funatama, it’s a nice little shrine and a pleasant spot to visit while exploring the Motomachi neighborhood.
