Japan-Korea 2019 Chugoku Map

Having departed Itoshima, we have officially passed the halfway mark of my journey across Japan and Korea. Thus began the long, meandering trek back towards Tokyo, which would feature plenty of detours. The next phase of my trip would take me to Chugoku, which is the westernmost region of the Japanese island of Honshu. In the map of Japan above I have highlighted the Chugoku region red.

In Chugoku I had quite a few places that I would visit, which I’ve circled in the map above. For this part of my journey I’d be visiting Hiroshima, Miyajima, Onomichi, Matsue, Izumo, Bitchu-Takahashi, Kurashiki, and Okayama. Photos from Chugoku will start rolling out next week. I hope you continue to enjoy the sights and the stories from my time traveling around Japan and Korea.

  1. Chugoku is a bit underrated but it is great! If you have the chance , Mizuki Shigeru Road which is near Matsue is really cool. It is Yokai themed because it is the hometown of the author of Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro.

    1. Chugoku definitely doesn’t get as much love as Kansai or Kanto but it’s got plenty to offer to people who are willing to head out there. If I’m ever back in the Matsue area I’ll see about visiting Mizuki Shigeru Road. Thanks for the suggestion!
