Kanazawa 2019: The walls of Kanazawa Castle

Much of Kanazawa Castle no longer exists but in the southern area of the castle you the old walls are still standing and a small section of the castle’s moat has been restored. After leaving Oyama Shrine I took a relaxing stroll along the walls and spent a little time to admire the stonework. There wasn’t anyone else on the path that afternoon and if not for the sounds of passing cars it was almost as if I was all by myself out there.

I then continued along the walls until I reached the restored part of the castle, which I passed through on my way back north. The following morning I would be taking a proper tour of Kanazawa Castle’s buildings, so on this evening I didn’t stop too often but I did take note of which areas seemed most interesting to me.
