Kanazawa 2019: Leaving Kanazawa

It was time to bid farewell to Kanazawa so I grabbed my backpack from my hostel and headed to Kanazawa Station. The Tsuzumi-mon (Drum Gate) welcomed me back to the station and would be the last landmark I saw in the city. Instead of boarding a train, however, I got on a bus that was heading up into the mountains of central Japan. Time was rapidly running out on my journey and with every city that I departed I could feel the end closing in on me. The next destination of my trip would be the region in and around the mountain town of Takayama.
