When you reach Hozomon Gate at the end of the Nakamise shopping street you have arrived at Sensoji Temple. This is the oldest temple in Tokyo and for a fuller overview of the temple please read my previous post on it (found here). The doors of Sensoji’s main hall are closed in the evening but the temple grounds remaining open to the public and there were still plenty of people wandering around that night. I took some photos but mostly just tried to enjoy the ambiance that night. Sensoji Temple is a place that I know very well, having visited it multiple times during both my 2017 and 2019 journeys, and I’d be coming back the following morning since I like going there. When I started feeling the fatigue of a long day setting in I left Sensoji and rode the subway back across Tokyo to my hostel. My first night in Tokyo was over but I’d have a few more before my departure from Japan.
