Within Tokyo’s Akihabara District is the legendary Super Potato store. Super Potato specializes in selling video games and video game consoles, particularly retro ones. For a gamer like me, visiting Super Potato is almost like taking a pilgrimage and I was enthralled as I saw all that it had to offer. Most of what was on display was from the PlayStation 2 generation and earlier, though I do remember there being a small section for games from the PS3/360/Wii generation. I recognized a lot of what I saw inside Super Potato but there were plenty of Japanese games that I had never heard of before. Super Potato has multiple floors, with each floor housing particular generations of video games or particular types of hardware, and on the top floor there’s a small arcade with a collection of older games. If you love video games and have the opportunity to visit Tokyo then you owe it to yourself to pay Super Potato a visit.
