The next place I’d be revisiting in Tokyo was Zojoji Temple, which is down in the area by Tokyo Tower. As I was walking along the street I could see Tokyo Tower peeking over the nearby buildings, so I knew I was getting close.
I like to think of Zojoji Temple as a quieter, more peaceful alternative to Sensoji Temple in Asakusa. Both are great temples to visit but Zojoji is where you can go in Tokyo to see a large temple but without the crowds of tour bus groups. Tokyo Tower stands just a short distance behind Zojoji’s main hall and makes for an interesting view when you’re standing in the temple’s courtyard. Unlike Sensoji Temple, visitors are allowed to enter the main hall of Zojoji Temple. For a fuller history of Zojoji Temple be sure to check out my previous post on it, which can be found here.
