Yeah, I’m not totally sure how to pronounce that name either, but I certainly remember the Széchenyi Thermal Baths as the only time on my 2012 trip when I visited a spa. Thermal baths are a big deal in Budapest and I decided to give this place a try as a cultural experience. Normally I wouldn’t consider myself to be the type of person who likes going to a spa but I ended up really enjoying my time at Széchenyi. In the outdoor pools I remember there were old men playing chess and in one of the indoor areas there was a room with a really hot and a really cold pool right next to each other. If you go back and forth between those pools you get a weird sensation, which might have been my body’s way of freaking out and telling me to stop changing the temperature so rapidly.
