I had completely forgotten that smoking is way more common in Italy (and Europe in general) than in America. Seriously, during my two-week trip to Italy I inhaled more second-hand smoke than during the previous two years in America. Rome had the highest concentration of smokers, with a surprising number of teenagers lighting up before and after school. It would seem that here in America we’re killing ourselves with ailments related to obesity while in Italy they’re killing themselves with ailments related to smoking.
