When I exited the Tokyo National Museum there was a Japanese Cultural Festa being held in Ueno Park a short distance from the museum. It was mostly stands selling a wide variety of food and crafts from across Japan and I decided to take the time to check it out. After viewing each stand I decided to get some yakitori from a guy that had a really good smell coming from his grill. His charismatic red headband might also have influenced me. I don’t know what kinds of salt and seasoning he put on the meat but it was really tasty. Scattered bits of rain were falling on Tokyo that day so I took shelter under a tent to finish my meal and afterwards I got some black vanilla ice cream. It tasted similar to regular vanilla but the black color was pretty novel.
