After taking some quick photos of the Kaminarimon Gate, I started making my way down the Nakamise shopping street. Nakamise is lined with dozens of small shops selling various trinkets, souvenirs, and snacks, and while the street is definitely touristy and gets crowded during the day it’s still the most scenic way to go between Kaminarimon and Sensoji Temple. I remember that groups of kids in their school uniforms were walking around the area that morning and not all of the businesses had opened up yet. A lot of the shops on Nakamise have colorful murals painted on their roller shutters, so if you show up during non-business hours you can see a more artsy version of the street. That particular morning I didn’t buy anything and just slowly made my way towards Sensoji, though on a future visit I stepped into a few of the shops to check out their wares.
