Japan-Korea 2019 Chubu Map

Time was rapidly running out on my 2019 journey but I still had a number of places to visit and for a bit over a week I’d be in the Chubu region of Japan. Chubu is a part of Japan that many tourists skip over on their way to and from the Kanto and Kansai regions, and understandably so. A lot of people that visit Japan only have one or two weeks for their trips and the Chubu region simply doesn’t have any megaton attractions on par with Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, or the other big names from Kanto and Kansai. Thankfully I had the benefit of doing a long vacation and thus could budget time for Chubu. In the map above the Chubu region has been colored red.

While in the Chubu region I’d be visiting Kanazawa, Takayama, Shirakawago, Nagoya, Ise Shima, the Kiso Valley, Matsumoto, and Nagano. In the map above I’ve circled each of those spots. Technically Ise Shima is in the Kansai region of Japan, but I visited it as a day trip from Nagoya, so I’m counting it as part of the Chubu stage of my journey. Some places like Matsumoto and Nagano were only brief visits, and Nagoya was primarily used as a base for day trips, but I’m glad I was able to at least see a little bit of Chubu while on my way back towards Tokyo. I’m going to try to have the first posts from Chubu ready for publishing next week and hopefully you’ll continue to enjoy the photos and stories I have to share from my journey.
